山田 優 – Fly So High

“Fly So High” by Yamada Yui is the ED theme for Blue Dragon. An anime that I wish I could say that I liked, simply because the character designs were by 鳥山 明 (Toriyama Akira). I’ve been a fan of Toriyama since I was really young, when Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball was airing on TV. Unfortunately, Blue Dragon was a bit of a disappointment. Luckily for me, his character designs for the Dragon Quest series still shines, although it can be criticized that the designs are a bit predictable.

中川翔子 – 空色デイズ (Sorairo Days)

“Sorairo Days” by Nakagawa Shouko is the OP theme for 「天元突破 红蓮之眼」(Tenge Toppa Gurren Lagann). Condered by many (myself included) one of the best anime of 2007, “Sorairo Days” goes very well as the OP theme of such a fun and exciting show.

“Peach” by Otsuka Ai is the theme song for the J-Dorama「花ざかりの君たちへ」(Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, a.k.a. Hana Kimi). Adapted from the best selling manga of the same name by 中条比紗也 (Nakajou Hisaya), it stars Horikita Maki as Ashiya Mizuki, Oguri Shun as Sano Izumi, and Ikuta Toma as Nakatsu Shuichi.

YUI – My Generation

“My Generation” by YUI is the theme song for J-Dorama Seito Shokun! (生徒諸君!), starring Uchiyama Rina, Shiina Kippei, and Horikita Maki. Based on the manga of the same name by 庄司陽子 (Shouji Youko), it was a dorama about the relationship between students, teachers, and parents. “My Generation” is very typical song of YUI. Probably best known in the Anime circle for her OP & ED themes for BLEACH, she is one of the better composer/singers of the recent years.

Lena Park – 祈り〜You Raise Me Up

When I first heard this song watching Romeo x Juliet, I thought that it sounded familiar. As it turned out, it is an international hit by Josh Groban, as shown in the video above. A sample of Lena Park’s “Inori ~ You Raise Me Up” and her English version is available on the sidebar.
