“COLORS” by FLOW is probably their most famous song in the anime circle. As the first OP for 「コードギアス 反逆のルルーシュ」(Code Geass Hangyaku no LaRouche), it really fitted the show. With a Big-Band sound from the opening segment, this song has the energy and atmosphere that fitted the epic show that is Code Geass.

The first time when I watched 「交響詩篇エウレカセブン」(Eureka 7), I was immediately hooked by the OP theme song. “DAYS” by FLOW just had that sort of special rhythm to it that made it rather unforgettable. Those in the anime circle might have known FLOW from their earlier single “GO!!!” that was the 4th OP theme for Naruto, though. For me however, even after listening to “GO!!!” and even later “COLORS”, this is the song that made me become a fan of FLOW.
I was going to do a review on “Answer” by FLOW today, but I still haven’t gotten by package from Japan, yet. So in the mean time, please enjoy a clip from 涼宮ハルヒの激奏.
If anyone know where I could get a copy of the song to sate my apatite until the CD arrives, please let me know. 🙂 NVM, found it.
“Dreams” by HIGH and MIGHTY COLOR is the second ED for Darker Than Black -黑の契約者-. H&MC is probably best known for their theme songs for Gundam Seed Destiny and Bleach, “Pride” and 「一輪の花」(Ichirin no Hana). Most anime fans are probably familiar with both songs. For those who are unfamiliar with H&MC, they really made a name for themselves with those two songs and their rock and punk/rap style. It was rather refreshing to hear a female vocalist, Maki, in a rock band interlaced with rapping by the male vocalist, Yuusuke.
“Fly So High” by Yamada Yui is the ED theme for Blue Dragon. An anime that I wish I could say that I liked, simply because the character designs were by 鳥山 明 (Toriyama Akira). I’ve been a fan of Toriyama since I was really young, when Dr. Slump and Dragon Ball was airing on TV. Unfortunately, Blue Dragon was a bit of a disappointment. Luckily for me, his character designs for the Dragon Quest series still shines, although it can be criticized that the designs are a bit predictable.
“Sorairo Days” by Nakagawa Shouko is the OP theme for 「天元突破 红蓮之眼」(Tenge Toppa Gurren Lagann). Condered by many (myself included) one of the best anime of 2007, “Sorairo Days” goes very well as the OP theme of such a fun and exciting show.
“Peach” by Otsuka Ai is the theme song for the J-Dorama「花ざかりの君たちへ」(Hanazakari no Kimitachi e, a.k.a. Hana Kimi). Adapted from the best selling manga of the same name by 中条比紗也 (Nakajou Hisaya), it stars Horikita Maki as Ashiya Mizuki, Oguri Shun as Sano Izumi, and Ikuta Toma as Nakatsu Shuichi.
