いきものがかり – 流星ミラクル (Ryuusei Miracle)

“Ryuusei Miracle” by Ikimono-gakari is the OP theme for「天保異聞 あやかしあやし」(Tenpou Ibun Ayakashi Ayashi). I didn’t realize that it was an OP theme for an anime series when I first got the single, but realized it later when I marathoned the series. Speaking of which, it is a great pity that the series got such a low rating and viewership despite a refreshing storyline and excellent production value. Needless to say, I really enjoyed watching Ayakashi Ayashi.

“Ryuusei Miracle” is really the normal fare for Ikimono-gakari, with its great melody and light easy rhythm. It is a great song to listen to and hard to get tired of. As usual, it has great composition and the mix of guitar and harmonica is easy to the ear and allows the listener to really enjoy the song. The singing and lyrics are really good as well and easily memorable.

The b-side tracks「雪やまぬ夜二人」(Yuki Yamanu Yoru Futari) and「風に吹かれて」(Kaze Ni Fukarete) are also very enjoyable but contrasting songs, although I like “Yuki Yamanu Yoru Futari” a little more. “Yuki Yamanu Yoru Futari” is a very melodic but melancholic song, while “Kaze Ni Fukarete” is a lot more light hearted. Also, I found the melody of “Yuki Yamanu Yoru Futari” very soothing and a strong contrast with the strong beat of “Kaze Ni Fukarete”.

It is a very enjoyable single overall, and highly recommended for anyone who likes J-Rock.
